Dans cours, vous apprenez la mise en pierre, donc le sertissage d’une pierre semi-précieuse sur le bijou.
Le sertissage est un vrai art de l’assemblage. Il consiste à fixer la pierre sans colle. Il est donc essentiel de travailler avec beaucoup de précision.
A la fin du cours, vous emportez le bijou fini avec vous.

Nothing enhances a lovely pendant more than a handmade chain to complement it.
Chain making is fun, but can require a bit of patience! On this two day workshop we will explore a large variety of techniques for making chains. We’ll make links using silver wire, Art Clay Silver, and a combination of the two. Why is this a ‘sampler’ workshop? Because you’ll make a whole selection of different links so you go away armed with the techniques to inspire you to create your very own unique chains.
Joy: « Since I first started teaching this workshop I’ve expanded the range of link designs and you’ll have plenty of time to try all the different styles over the two days. ». We will also make some links that are suitable for adding colour on to and on day two we’ll enamel some of the links to add even more joyfulness to your chain.
From working with metal clay and soldering wire to bashing things with a hammer, this will be a fun and varied two day workshop.
Joy lives and works in Hastings (UK). She has been working with Artclay Silver since 2005. Within a year, she trained up to Senior Artclay Instructor. In 2009 she became the first person to be made a Craftsman of the Guild of Enamellers. This is exceptional because the traditional view was always, that you cannot enamel on Artclay Silver.
Joy is passionate about colour and texture in her work. During the last years, she has taught at the Artclay World UK conferences in 2009 and 2010 as well as at the Metalclay World Conference in Chicago in 2011.
Her work has been featured in many magazines and publications.

Adding colour to your work is a great way to brighten it up and make it uniquely yours, and enamel is the perfect medium for doing it with. With cloisonné in traditional enamelling the ‘cells’ of wire are fixed to an enamelled background. With Enamelled Accents you can add your wires wherever you want to make freestanding areas to put colour into. Adding the wires this way is also a great way to decorate work even if you don’t enamel afterwards.
On this workshop you’ll make a silver pendant with a shallow texture first and then learn how to add the wires. After that you will enamel into cells to make your very own ‘joyful’ piece!
